Liquidamber styracifluaThis handsome species is grown primarily for its glossy maple like leaves that in autumn takes on brilliant crimson purple and claret hues. The colour is long lasting and lingers for over a month on the tree itself the leaves even look beautiful when on the ground once they have fallen! In older trees the bark is corky in texture and grey green in colour.
